HI, I’M

ZAHRA POONAWALA

a licensed mental health professional, with more than eight years of experience.

I have a holistic approach to therapy, and I work with various therapeutic modalities and techniques to suit your needs.  My hope is to empower you to live your best life.

If you are an adult struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, or you are going through a rough emotional patch, I can help you develop inner strength to get through it.

If you are a parent of a child with autism or any social, emotional or behavioral issues and feel confused about how to tackle them, together, as a team, we can find ways to empower your little one. I’ll even bring along my therapy dog sometimes to enhance motivation.

If you are someone who is seeking ways to be fully immersed in the joys of life. With the help of mindfulness and meditation, we can explore ways to live your life to the fullest.

 Equine Assisted

Support Group

Last year, along with the support from Al Marmoom Initiative (Dubai), Zahra started the U.A.E.’s first Equine Assisted Support Group Program for Parents of Children with Special Needs. In the support group, participants receive feedback and insight through their interactions with the therapy horses and each other.

Animal Assisted

Therapy

Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) can often be an important catalyst for therapist/client bonding.

A qualified mental health professional incorporates a trained therapy animal to the therapeutic process which to aid and motivate a child to learn various skills or work to resolve emotional/behavioral problems.
